Reiki is a Japanese energy healing art that was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century. Energy healing works towards transforming and releasing energetic blockages which restrict our body’s natural flow of energy and cause dis-ease within the mind, body and soul. In effect it assists with the body’s natural healing processes. Reiki can help to reduce anxiety and pain, induce deep relaxation, improve fatigue and depressive symptoms.
Each person experiences Reiki differently depending on their individual needs at the time. Clients may or may not feel sensations during a Reiki treatment. Benefits reported include deep relaxation promoting a calm, peaceful sense of wellbeing on all levels. Some people feel sensations of heat, tingling, or experience seeing colours, whilst others can have an emotional response, indicating that shifts are taking place, allowing harmony to be restored.
The relaxing nature of Reiki can be very helpful to people especially at difficult times in your life. We can all feel overwhelmed or disconnected at times, a real sense of isolation, both emotionally and spiritually. Reiki treatments can bring feelings of peace, centeredness and an ability to cope better with the challenges life brings. This has been the case for a number of my clients, relieving emotional stress, and strengthening their overall sense of wellbeing.
Reiki can be beneficial in circumstances that are short term, but can also support people dealing with long-term conditions, helping to bring comfort, acceptance and a more positive outlook. For patients with chronic health conditions, Reiki has been found to be more effective than placebo for reducing pain, anxiety, and depression, and for improving self-esteem and quality of life.
I have received attunements from Reiki Masters practising both Japanese and Angelic Reiki, giving mostly “hands-on” healing, working over your chakras. It is not unusual to experience an emotional release during energy healing, and I am available if you need any support in the days following your session to help you ground yourself.
